Davide Winery

The wine history of this family began in 1943, but the current winery and wines belong to a renovated project that essentially pursues very small and select productions, for those who love the best wine, all those who truly appreciate and enjoy the best national wines. There are two wines from this young winery founded in 2005: Davide Tradición (of which we have already spoken in this section) and Davide Duo (the one we are presenting on this occasion). Well, the production of both does not exceed 50,000 bottles. They are very exclusive! The presentation of the bottles, very modern and elegant, chosen directly by David Acha, draws our attention. All right!

Davide Bodega y Viñedos, from Vilanova de Aurousa (Pontevedra), is a modern, very modern winery that produces its wines thanks to the 7 hectares of its own vineyards. Of modern technology, decorated in a very natural way, with pidra and wood, which give a very warm touch, as you can see in the photograph.

Varieties: Albariño and Godello. From a rigorous selection of smallholding plots, over 30 years old, of low production and high concentration, obtained naturally. The vineyards are located in unique enclaves of the Salnés Valley (Godello), Rosal and Condado, belonging to small winegrowers; men united to their farms with their own roots, and who treat their vineyards in the only way that those who love their plants can do it, turning their plots into authentic gardens worth visiting. Viticulturists who maintain a philosophy of cultivation based on sustainability and respect for their natural, architectural and cultural environment, with ecological and biodynamic criteria that pursue naturalness and allow the selection of grapes in the vineyard itself and collect balanced, full bunches of elements, flavors and character, a reflection of the Galician landscape.

Soil: Sandy-sandy, with fossils of marine shells. Next to the sea (Salnés).

Vinification: Handmade, nothing interventionist (naked, without artifices and without any additive). Carried out in modern facilities of a small family winery that houses the ideas of purity, typicity and manufacture. Vinification based on honesty, simplicity and classicism, to convey a philosophy of distinction, balance, longevity and taste for the intangible, respecting the character, the caste and the uniqueness of each harvest. It is in the maturity when their wines reach an extreme elegance, conquering the praises of the critic from its first vintage. Symbol of the authenticity of its people, as well as a benchmark of hard work and good work, capable of being measured without a doubt with the great whites.

Selection of grapes in the vineyard. Manual harvest in boxes of 15 Kg. Destemming, cold pre-fermentative skin maceration. Soft pressing. Debalancing Spontaneous fermentation with autochthonous yeasts at 18ºC, for 20 days. Aging on lees. Stabilization by cold (-4ºC).

Coupage: Albariño and Godello. Successful assembly that combines the aromatic and gustatory pleasure of extraordinary grapes.

Aging: Wine in branch for 9 months in stainless steel tank with frequent battonnage of fine lees. Two months in bottle before its commercialization.

Excellent until 2021: These wines stand out for their amazing ability to evolve in the bottle, which gives them personality and complexity.

Tasting: Delicacy and Seduction. It stands out for its infinite variety of floral and fruity flavors and aromas, which conciliate traditional and contemporary nuances, with a freshness of perpetual youth.

Tasting: Purity and authenticity. A sublime emotional albariño, which harmoniously combines intensity, freshness and elegance. It is the living expression of an author albariño with personality. A complex, sophisticated wine with marine notes, which stands out for its infinite variety of aromas of white flowers, honeysuckle, aromatic herbs, light balsamic, mint, intense citrus (grapefruit, lemon) tropical (lichies) and stone fruit. In the mouth markedly fruity, fresh, structured, broad and silky. Tasty in its long journey and powerful end.
